Festive.

Olivia's wearing: Zara knit, jacket and quilted pants, American Apparel beanie, Michael Kors watch, Mimco necklace,
heart ring from street vendor in New York, Kate's Isabel Marant sneakers.

This simple outfit is an example of how I love to dress when I'm shopping and exploring the city, because I like to consider comfort and style. All of these items are pieces that I can rotate easily because they're all really simple and versatile. I had been eyeing off a few rose gold watches for some time, but wasn't sure if I really needed one or if it would be a good investment; but the Micheal Kors boutique won me over, as they have such a wide selection and the prices are similar to what you'd pay online. Now I've become obsessed with any clothing item or piece of jewellery that has even a speck of rose gold, it's a nice change from the typical yellow gold or silver that I usually wear. In case you're wondering about the title of this post, I just felt a little bit festive when I was wearing this outfit, due to the red and green mix.

Today I am showing Kate around SoHo, so stay tuned for some more outfit posts x

Plaid.

Kate's wearing: Zara plaid shirt, J Brand denim jacket, J Brand coated jeans, American Apparel beanie,
Liv's Isabel Marant sneakers, 3.1 Phillip Lim Mini Pashli satchel, Heart ring from street vendor in New York, Urban Outfitters thin rings.

Yes, you're seeing clearly, this is an actual outfit post, something we haven't been able to produce for almost three months. We've been looking forward to shooting together in New York for so long and the results have definitely lived up to our expectations. This city truly is a photographer's dream, every place we explore is so picturesque, it's impossible to capture a bad photo.

Now to the important stuff, we are obsessed with our Zara studded, plaid shirts, I purchased the red in Hong Kong (which you will see on the blog soon) and I've been dying to wear Olivia's green one with rose gold detailing. One of the first things we wanted to do once we were reunited was swap sneakers for a day or two, that's one of the beauties of having a twin, we can wear each others clothes. You will also notice that this is my Pashli satchel's debut on the blog, purchasing this bag is a decision I will never regret - it's so practical and versatile. Make sure to check the blog tomorrow for shots of Liv's outfit of the day x

Sorry for the lack of posts, my boyfriend arrived in New York last week so I've been spending every moment exploring the city with him. As much as I've enjoyed experiencing New York by myself for the past couple of months, this city is even more amazing when you have company. My favourite thing about New York is the fact that no day is like the last, there is an abundance of things to see and do, I don't think I could ever get bored. Kate arrives next week, so prepare to see some outfit posts on the blog soon! x

Winter Travel Essentials.

Lately when I (Kate) have been creating outfits on Polyvore late at night the same few
 items seem to keep appearing in more and more of my creations;
1. J Brand Aiah leather biker jacket,
2. J Brand mid-rise super skinny leather pants,
3. J Brand brocade jeans

These are three items I need in my wardrobe. Well considering I already have at least 15 pairs of J Brands I don't exactly need them, but lets just say if I could have them to help me brave the cold weather in New York I would be eternally grateful.

Ashley Madekwe: Interview.

Photos from Ring My Bell.

I had a major pinch me moment a couple of weeks ago when I was given the opportunity to interview one of my favourite fashion bloggers, Ashley Madekwe, who I previously wrote about here. Ashley was so lovely, she has the cutest British accent and she was so polite. I asked her a whole range of questions, from what her favourite labels are, to why she started blogging and also some questions about her role on Revenge. Check out some of the interview below...

Q: What made you start Ring my Bell?
A: I was always a big fan of other personal style blogs, and when I moved to New York my boyfriend would take a ton of pictures of me and I would put them on a blog so that my friends and family could keep updated on what I was doing. I really liked reading personal style blogs and it came from a place of wanting to join in.

Q: How often do you update with new posts?
A: At the absolute minimum I try to do once a week but sometimes it doesn’t work out because it depends on my husband [schedule] who takes all the photography, and if I don’t get home in time because the lights not right.

Q: What are your aspirations for the blog?
A: I want to keep it how it is. I like to read blogs about real girls, what they’re wearing. I don’t want too much chit chat and I want to see great pictures. There are other blogs that do lifestyle and cooking way better than I ever would. I mean people would die if I tried to put recipes on my blog [laughs].

Q: What’s your game plan for putting together an outfit?
A: Oh my goodness there is no plan whatsoever. I’m like any girl though, I do wear the same things over and over again, you see that in the blog. I stick to the same things, I have a lot of leopard, stripes, denim, and leather.

Q: What are the style blogs that you read?
A: Day to day I read Song of Style, Sincerely Jules, and Karla’s Closet they are really, really sweet girls. Those three are all based in L.A. which I guess its because that’s the weather I’m in, I find their posts the most inspiring.

Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: I would say that’s its uncommitted, there are some girls who are girly or they’re into the rock chick look or something like that. I kind of slip between all of them and have pieces from all of the main looks. I’m greedy, I want to try it all.

Q: How has your character, Ashley Davenport’s, wardrobe influenced your personal style?
A: I think my style’s influenced her. Jill Hanestan our costume designer is so generous and patient. Because I’ve always had an interest in fashion, Jill’s open about creating the look with me. She brings a variety of looks and we talk about what’s going to happen in that episode and she lets me take the pick from the choices she brings. She puts all my jewelry in my trailer so I can style the look.

Q: Is there anything that you have your eye on at the moment that you’d like to get?
A: I think I need to chill out after that Chanel bag. I think if you buy everything you want all the time, there’s nothing to look forward to. I’m not one of those people who can buy an expensive item and not think about it and suffer from guilt. So when I’ve bought an expensive item I kind of try to not buy anything else for a while.

Q: What would you say is one item that you cant live without?
A: A leather jacket, I’ve had them in many different rises but I cant remember not owning one. I think my first one was a Topshop one I had a vintage one at one point and then last year I saved and splurged on a Balenciaga.

Q: Who are you style crushes?
A: They range from icons from the past right up to the present day. [When I don’t know what to wear] I just Google icons. I often do that with Diana Ross or Ronnie Spektor — that winged eyeliner look has been influencing me probably since I was about 14. In the modern day I think Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo and Miroslava Duma.

Fall in New York.

1/ New York City from the Top of the Rock Observation Deck 2/ More delicious cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery
3/ Fall in Central Park 4/ More views from the Top of the Rock 5, 6 & 7/ Breathtaking fall foliage in Central Park
8/ My first hotdog in New York 9/ A cheesy tourist shot of me at the Top of the Rock

I was absolutely mesmerised exploring New York City in all it's fall glory today. The weather was perfect so I decided to tick a few things off my typical tourist list, starting with the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at the Rockefeller Center. After seeing the city from 70 floors above, I headed to Central Park. There is honestly nothing more beautiful than Central Park in fall, the warm colours and the leaves make it look so picturesque, I could have wandered around for hours taking it all in.
