Spain Travel Diary.

Here is a glimpse into the ten days that I spent exploring the beautiful country of Spain. I started off in Barcelona, a city that I had heard so many great things about and it definitely did live up to my expectations. I spent most of my time at La Barceloneta, which is the main beach that is located only ten minutes from central Barcelona via the Metro. I loved getting some sun again and it's the best beach for people watching, which I love to do when I get bored tanning. We also visited the La Boqueria market, which was heaven for a food lover like me. They have the most amazing chocolates, fruit, nuts, seafood and awesome tapas restaurants. Speaking of tapas, I had never tried it before I went to Spain and I'm now in love, it's perfect if you love platters/nibbles. There's also beautiful architecture to see in Barcelona, including Park Guell (my favourite) and some of Gaudi's other works like Sagrada Familia.

After Barcelona we travelled down South to Valencia. The serene atmosphere was such a breath of fresh air after being in Barcelona, which is obviously such a crowded tourist hotspot. We stayed in Old Town Valencia, which was filled with amazing buildings and churches, as well as quaint cafes and bars. We were only in Valencia for two nights before we headed further south to Alicante. We all fell in love with this coastal town because of the chilled out atmosphere and the beautiful beach with soft sand (which is hard to find in Europe), where you could swim and sun bake until 9pm because the sun goes down so late!

I'm not much of a travel writer (as you can tell), but I would definitely recommend seeing as much of Spain as you can. I would spend less time in Barcelona and more time travelling South along the coast, as it's cheaper, the beaches are better and so is the food and architecture. Visiting Spain has made me even more excited to see the rest of Europe, hopefully sooner rather than later...

Whoever said life is better when you just go with the flow and forget about plans didn't mention that it can be really stressful as well, which is why we haven't posted anything sooner. We've been busy planning what's next for us both overseas and we still don't really know what we're doing, but that's what your 20's are all about (apparently). I (Olivia) was lucky enough to spend ten days in Spain before heading home to Australia and it was amazing, I would definitely recommend that everyone puts it high on their bucket list, I will certainly be going back. Kate has left California and is now living in Wisconsin again until the end of the year. That's all we know for now...

These are just a few simple photos to give you a glimpse into what Kate's been wearing lately. You've probably realised that we obviously changed our minds about the whole Birkenstock trend. We still couldn't commit to a traditional pair because they feel so chunky and heavy, so we opted for this pair from Topshop. We love the all black, matte finish and they are insanely comfortable, how can something so dorky be so good?

Paree: Part Deux.

Here's the last of my photos from Paris, but believe me, I could have uploaded hundreds more because Paris is probably the most photogenic city in the world. I'm missing the beautiful architecture, the sightseeing and the shopping already, but what I miss most is waking up each day and eating a chocolate croissant for breakfast, the French really know how to do sweets. One of the best things about Paris is how simple it is to explore the city, majority of the tourist sites are within walking distance of each other and they're all only a short walk from a metro station. Fortunately lots of people speak English in Paris, so I managed to survive my five day holiday only knowing how to say hello, good evening, goodbye, excuse me and thank you. I would love to visit more European cities while I'm staying in England, but I think my shopping habits are going to put a stop to that. Maybe I'll just purchase something from a European designer instead, that makes up for it right?

Pony Hair.

The 'mandal' obsession is a trend that we never thought we'd follow and we seriously mean that. They're something that is so bad, yet also so good (somehow?) After seeing our favourite bloggers pull them off so well, we thought we'd give it a crack. We're still wondering who it was that randomly woke up and said "I'm going to revive my Birkenstocks today!" Because let's face it, they're not the most attractive shoes, we're not sure if we'll ever be able to embrace traditional Birks, that's why we've eased into things with this pair of pony hair slides from Topshop (you can't go wrong with pony hair). We're starting to understand the obsession now - it's all about understated comfort, these sandals seriously make you feel like you're walking on a cloud and their simplicity means that you can literally wear them with anything. We haven't fully converted yet but we will continue experimenting and get back to you.

P.S. I know my tan looks awful in the top picture, but believe me it's real - Liv.

Boho.

We have always been huge fans of the boho trend, we love the prints, the loose, flowy cuts and just how relaxed the styles make you feel, you almost feel like an instant gypsy. That's probably why we love playsuits so much, it seems that our obsession isn't slowing down anytime soon, here are our two latest additions. We usually like to team rompers with boots or espadrilles, as sandals often make an outfit look too casual. These Zimmermann lattice booties are a godsend, they look great paired with playsuits and dresses for shopping and days at the beach, but you can also dress them up with leather shorts or jeans for at night. Basic outfit posts like these may have to suffice until we work out who can take some proper photos for us - volunteers are welcome! x

Paree: Part Un.

Paris is one of those cities that is exactly how you imagine it to be. The buildings are all covered in shutters, with flowerpots hanging from the balconies, the croissants and crepes really do taste as amazing as you hoped they would and people actually do walk the streets carrying baguettes. This isn't my first time in the city of love, as I visited France with my family when I was ten, yet the reality of being in Paris again has definitely exceeded my memories. I am staying on the right bank in the 8th arrondissement, in a beautiful apartment that I rented through Airbnb (I would definitely recommend this site!) The apartment is in a very central location, which has made exploring even easier. Unfortunately I had to come to Paris by myself, however I have felt quite safe so far as I only wander the streets during the day and the metro system is extremely easy to navigate, I would say it's the most simple when you compare it to New York and London. I have only been here for two days and so far I have visited the Eiffel Tower (would you believe it is actually really difficult to get a decent photo of it?), Arc de triomphe, Champ Elysees, Moulin Rouge and Galeries Lafayette. There are still so many places I want to visit in Paris, so expect plenty more photos in the next few days. I'm off to eat another nutella crepe, Au Revoir x

London.

As the pictures above will tell you, I (Olivia) am now in England! I am super excited to be back in London as I haven't visited the country since I was ten and it honestly feels like such a breath of fresh air in comparison to Los Angeles. So far I've just been doing the typical tourist things like visiting Knightsbridge, Harrods, Oxford Circus and I even paid a visit to the London Zoo and the Natural History Museum. It's crazy how different England is to America, there is so much more culture and it definitely feels more like home. I am in England for two to three weeks (I'm very unorganised at the moment) and I am also visiting Paris for 5 days. I cannot wait to eat my weight in crepes and croissants and take pictures of the architecture and scenery all day. I haven't been taking many photos since I've been here, these few are just some snaps I took on my phone and edited using VSCOcam - this is an awesome editing app, we would definitely recommend it! I promise to take some better photos as
I do more exploring, stay posted x
