Minimal.

Olivia's wearing: Zimmermann striped t-shirt, White Suede leather running shorts, Proenza Schouler PS11 mini, Tiffany and Co necklace, Karen Walker rings, Michael Kors watch, Jeffrey Campbell 'Everly' boots.

This outfit is the perfect combination of basic investment pieces that I've accumulated recently, as there were so many must-haves that my wardrobe was missing. I had been searching high and low for the perfect striped t-shirt and ended the search when I found this one from Zimmermann. I love it's boxy, boyfriend fit and the fabric is super soft and lightweight. Authentic leather shorts have been on my wish list for what feels like a century, they're perfect for the Gold Coast climate and they can be worn with anything. These White Suede leather running shorts are made from the most amazing leather that feels like butter and they're a great fit as they're not too tailored. When you pair these two with my favourite boots and the best bag ever invented, you have my ideal outfit.

PS11.

Proenza Schouler PS11 Mini

We don't think we really need to go into much detail as to how these beauties came into our possession, it's pretty self-explanatory. We'd had our eye on them for months and discussed whether or not they'd be a worthy investment - as we do with all expensive purchases. Of course we came to the conclusion that you can't go wrong with this bag. Although most people opt for the larger size, we decided to both get the mini as we prefer smaller bags and felt that this size would definitely fit all of our daily essentials. If you're currently on the fence and can't decide whether to take the plunge or not, the answer is yes, yes you should.

Heliconia.

Kate's wearing: American Vintage singlet, Maurie and Eve 'Heliconia' mesh peplum skirt, Sportsgirl heels, Michael Kors watch,
Hermes bracelet, Mania Mania skull ring.

We love supporting Australian labels, especially when it feels like our wardrobes consist of so many pieces from foreign designers. Maurie and Eve is one of our favourite Australian brands, but for some reason we didn't own anything from their collections, until now. We love the structure of the skirt with the mesh peplum, as it's a fresh take on the overdone trend and the bold print is one of the best we've seen from their summer collection. Considering it was 70 percent off, you'd be silly to say no.

Balance.

Olivia's wearing: Zimmermann 'Balance Bouquet' dress, Michael Kors watch, Senso 'Xenia' heels, American Apparel nail polish.

This is the outfit that I put together to wear to my graduation ceremony a few weeks ago, where I received a Bachelor of Journalism, in case anyone was curious. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to wear for the event, as I'm someone who usually always buys more casual clothes as I'm not really into dressing up and partying. I liked this Zimmermann dress as soon as I saw it, as not only am I a huge fan of the brand, but I loved it's youthful feel and the fact that it's not too dressy. We both love the floral prints that Zimmermann incorporates into their collections, they're always different to others that you see and they're never tacky, which can often be a problem with florals.

Heels are something that you won't see on this blog very often, we're definitely more fond of boots and flats, rather than any shoes with height. These Senso 'Xenia' heels are the first pair of higher shoes that I've liked in a long time - I love the simple, timeless style of them and the nougat colour, as it compliments any skin tone.

Staples.

Kate's wearing: Urban Outfitters top, Shakuhachi scarf print shorts, Urban Outfitters necklace and bracelets, Michael Kors watch, Isabel Marant eye bracelet, Witchery sandals.

There's nothing better than wearing lightweight fabrics like silk in summer, because although one would think that denim shorts are a staple for the season, denim really isn't as comfortable to wear on a hot day. Shakuhachi have perfected the cut of these silk shorts, they're simple and not too baggy, which can often be a problem with lose-fitting shorts. The monotone colour scheme makes it easy to pair just about anything with them, including this Urban Outfitters peplum top. There is a reason why we have it in two colours (currently considering ordering more) and it is on the Urban Outfitters best-sellers list- it is the perfect care-free top. If you're looking for a peplum top that isn't too structured like most you see, or are simply wanting more wardrobe staples, we recommend this one.

Camo.

Olivia's wearing: Zara denim shirt and jeans, H&M knit, American Apparel beanie, Karen Walker Sunglasses, Kate's Isabel Marant sneakers.

We used to completely steer clear of anything camouflage because it's a pretty risky pattern to wear, there's a fine line between cool, edgy camo pieces and awful, tacky ones, especially if they're not just in the typical military colours. It was easy to incorporate these Zara jeans into our wardrobes though because they can be paired with so many things that we wear.

We've come to realise that every girl needs a denim shirt in her wardrobe, but a good one is hard to come by. Although they're just a simple piece, there are so many things that can go wrong - the shade of the denim, the flexibility of the fabric and also the cut, as many of them aren't feminine enough. This Zara one is perfect though, as it's made from a lightweight fabric and the dull gold studs add a nice touch, especially when layered with a knit like this.

This is our final post from New York, so expect to see lots more summer content on the blog in the coming weeks!

Biker.

Kate's wearing: Zara knit and jeans, Liv's Shakuhachi leather jacket, American Apparel beanie,
Celine sunglasses, Zara necklace and studded boots.

We have to admit that the day we went bike riding in Central Park is the only time we took part in any form of exercise when we were both in New York, unless you count walking around Fifth Avenue. We were too busy enjoying the amazing shopping and the best burgers one can find - on a side note, we recommend Bill's Bar and Burger and Shake Shack and trust us, we would know, burgers are our all-time favourite, consider us burger experts.

Considering the fact that we didn't get to spend a lot of time together in New York as Olivia was working five days a week, we didn't spend a lot of time choosing our outfits on weekends, as we wanted to get the most out of our days. This outfit is a great example of that, as I just chucked on a few basics, including Liv's beloved biker jacket, as I'm yet to find the perfect one of my own.

You've probably noticed that we've been wearing a lot of Zara as of late, it's great for those things that you spontaneously decide you want, but don't want to spend a lot of money on in case you don't like it for long. We miss having multiple stores only minutes away from our apartment, that's one of the best things about America, the convenience of everything.

P.S. We only just realised that we didn't have our Google follower icon in our sidebar, which is totally the reason behind our utterly embarrassing amount of followers (or is it? We sure hope so).
